In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to surrender our cell phones and crank up the Alfred Moretti as we review the 2025 film “Opus”…

A graduate of Morehouse College who started out as a journalist at GQ, Mark Anthony Green got to know a lot about celebrity and the cult of personality very early on his career while interviewing the likes of LeBron James, Donald Glover and Daniel Kaluuya.

But after 13 years at the magazine, Green could no longer suppress his desire to crossover into feature filmmaking so he started out with a short film before he began writing his first real script.

For all the experience he had around A-list talent, Green promises that his film isn’t based around any one person but rather as a “cautionary tale of tribalism’ and he decided to use pop music and fandom as his conduit.

The film centers around a reclusive musician — the biggest selling artist of his day, who suddenly stopped releasing new material and disappeared off the map.

Now 30 years later, he’s returned without any notice and a select group of journalists, influencers and celebrities are invited to his compound to get an exclusive chance to hear his new album but after arriving, it’s obvious that what’s going on inside these walls isn’t quite right….
