One of the biggest surprises when it came to film releases during the global pandemic was Netflix unleashing a trio of “Fear Street” films over just three weeks’ time to tell a complete story based on the original young adult novels from author R.L. Stine.
The success and critical acclaim of those three “Fear Street” movies kept Netflix interested in potentially returning to the series and that finally happened in early 2024 when a new film got the greenlight based on Stine’s book “The Prom Queen” and director Matt Palmer was hired on the project.
Set in 1988 at the infamous Shadyside High, a group of six unlikely candidates have been nominated for Prom Queen including Tiffany, the most popular girl at school and Lori, an outcast who has constantly been teased about rumors that her mother killed her father in a fit of rage.
When the prom finally arrives and voting begins, the nominees for prom queen start getting knocked off one by one and there’s no telling who’s going to be left alive to wear the crown the night is over ….
