In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to get our bait ready and make sure the ship is ready to sail as we review the 2025 film “Dangerous Animals”…
Tasmanian filmmaker Sean Byrne already had a reputation for his unique and yet twisted takes on horror with films such as “The Loved Ones” and “The Devil’s Candy.”
Of course, he was also a massive fan of the classic blockbuster “Jaws” from Steven Spielberg but as much as he loved that movie, Byrne also read plenty of stories about how that film actually ended up as a huge disservice to sharks.
Thanks to that movie, people were convinced that sharks were effectively hunting humans in the ocean and the entire culture around those creatures changed forever.
But Byrne was immediately intrigued when he read an interesting script from writer Nick Lepard that dealt with a much different way into a shark movie by way of a serial killer.
The movie centered around a deranged killer named Tucker and his diabolical way of disposing of his prey in the middle of the ocean and he ends up kidnapping a plucky surfer named Zephyr but she’s not going to just roll over and play dead much less get served up like chum in the water…
