A new “Final Destination” sequel is in the works with one of the writers behind the latest film “Bloodlines” returning to pen the script…
You may be done with death but death is not done with you.
Following the massive success of “Final Destination: Bloodlines” — a sequel that restarted the franchise after laying dormant for 14 years — another sequel in the franchise is already in the works.
Warner Bros. is moving forward with a new film in the horror series with Lori Evans Taylor — one of the writers on “Bloodlines” — to return and pen the script for the latest movie. Taylor was joined by Guy Busick (“Scream 5, “Scream 6” and “Ready or Not”) for the script on “Bloodlines,” which was based on a story that also included a concept from Jon Watts, who is best known for directing several of the recent “Spider-Man” films for Sony and Marvel.
There’s no word yet if Taylor’s story continues what unfolded in “Final Destination: Bloodlines” or if she’s planning on introducing an entirely new group of people and concept in the new sequel, which was a bit of a hallmark for the other films in the series.
“Final Destination: Bloodlines” was a very successful film for Warner Bros. after earning more than $286 million at the worldwide box office with over $138 million coming domestically. That made the film the most successful “Final Destination” movie to date, although every movie in that franchise has exceeded expectations when it comes to money earned at the box office.
Longtime “Final Destination” producer Craig Perry is returning for the latest sequel alongside series veteran Sheila Hanahan Taylor with Watts and his wife Dianne McGunigle serving as producers on the film as well.
In addition to her work on “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” Taylor has also written scripts for films such as “Cellar Door” and “Bed Rest,” which starred “Scream” favorite Melissa Barrera.
Overal “Final Destination” remains one of the biggest moneymakers for Warner Bros. with the six films in the franchise earning over $983 million at the box office and now a seventh movie is on the way.
