Singer Charli XCX is continuing to build her acting resume while producing and starring in the next film from “Audition” and “Ichi the Killer” director Takashi Miike…
Charli XCX might go from brat to scream queen.
The Grammy award winning singer, who has dabbled in acting throughout her career, has signed onto star and produce a new film from famed horror director Takashi Miike.
Miike is best known for films such as “Audition” and “Ichi the Killer” with a style best known for depicting acts of extreme violence and sexual perversions in many of his movies.
Ross Evans, whose script for the “How to Save a Marriage” is being developed at Sony with Robert Pattison producing, is writing the screenplay for the film.
While she’s best known for her hugely popular movie career — including her album “Brat” that continues to tear up the charts — Charli XCX (real name Charlotte Aitchison) has been dedicating more and more of her time to acting in recent years. She actually has a string of starring roles coming up in prominent films including an appearance in “The Moment” where she joins a cast that includes Alexander Skarsgard and Rosanna Arquette.
She’s also slated to appear in another horror film with the upcoming “Faces of Death” remake, which also stars “Euphoria” veteran Barbie Ferreira, plus a starring role in the movie “I Want Your Sex” where she joins Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman.
Of course, Miike never seems to slow down with his work and the director actually has two films already released in 2025
While the film with Charli XCX was announced, the actual plot details haven’t been revealed yet but given the Miike’s history with horror, it’s tough to imagine to say this won’t be a genre movie but only time will tell regarding the themes of this new movie.
