“American Horror Story” is returning to one of its most popular seasons by resurrecting the cast from “Coven” to join the latest installment …

“American Horror Story” has been very hit or miss over the past few seasons but creator Ryan Murphy never forgets to revisit a fan favorite, which is exactly what he’s doing for season 13.
The latest installment of the long running anthology series, which debuts in September, is officially returning to “Coven” — the third season of the show that centered around an academy for girls that was actually a school for witches and the search for a new Supreme (effectively the queen witch). That season remains of the most popular and beloved installments in the entire “American Horror Story” franchise, which is why Murphy already used many of those same characters in the eighth season titled “Apocalypse” as well.
Now Murphy is taking the new season back to “Coven” after revealing that Sarah Paulson would be reprising her role as the current Supreme named Cordelia Goode with Emma Roberts also returning as Madison Montgomery.
“The Return of Sarah Paulson as Cordelia Goode,” Murphy wrote on Instagram. “The Supreme Rises. And yes we have rebuilt the entire Robichaux Academy. Coming this September.”
Jessica Lange is also returning to “American Horror Story” for the first time since making an appearance in season 8 after she headlined several of the early seasons of the show. There’s still no confirmation if Lange is returning as Fiona Goode — Cordelia’s mother and the former Supreme — or perhaps reviving one of her other past characters from “American Horror Story.”
There are also several other familiar faces returning for the new season including Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman as well as Ariana Grande joining the cast after she appeared in “Scream Queens,” which is another of Murphy’s many shows.
With Murphy dishing out new details for season 13 as production begins, he’ll likely reveal a few more characters over the next few months to tease “American Horror Story” eventually returning in September.
