“A Quiet Place Part III” is officially happening.
On Friday, John Krasinksi teased the return of the horror franchise on social media with confirmation that he’s returning to write and direct the latest sequel with a release date already set for July 9, 2027.
Released in 2018 from a script written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods — who also wrote and directed the recent critically acclaimed horror film “Heretic” — the original “A Quiet Place” served as Krasinski’s breakout as a director with the film he co-starred in alongside real life wife Emily Blunt ended up earning more than $341 million at the box office on a small $17 million budget.
The film was incredibly well received and a sequel “A Quiet Place Part II” was released in 2021 with that movie earning over $297 million. A spinoff titled “A Quiet Place: Day One” was also a massive success with that film written and directed by Michael Sarnoski and starring Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn ended up earning over $261 million at the box office.
Now a third film in the original series is set for release, although there’s been no official word if Blunt plans to return to the franchise, although it seems almost impossible that she wouldn’t — assuming Krasinski plans to continue telling the same story around the Abbott family, which were featured in the first two “A Quiet Place” movies.
Set in at unknown time in the future, the Earth has been ravaged and destroyed by a group of sound-seeking aliens, who landed on the planet and immediately conquered the world. Unable to see but guided by sound, the creatures hunt and destroy everything in their path and the only chance at survival is moving in absolute silence to prevent the monsters from finding you.
