Sophie Thatcher is traveling back to 17th century for her next role in a witch-hunt thriller titled “Cavendish”…

Sophie Thatcher — who is best known for her role in the Emmy nominated series “Yellowjackets” as well as films such as “Companion” — has landed the lead role in a new witch-hunt thriller titled “Cavendish” from writer-director Christopher Andrews.
She’s joined by Erin Kellyman — who just appeared in “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” — and Joe Alwyn — from “The Brutalist” and “Hamnet” — in the film that takes place in the 17th century in Britain.
Set in 1645, the story finds a privileged young bride (Thatcher) accused of witchcraft on her wedding day and she is pursued by a ruthless witch hunter (Alwyn). She’s soon forced into an uneasy alliance with a sharp-witted poacher living on the margins of society (Kellyman) and the two women fight back, turning their powerlessness into strength through violence, wit and defiance.
The film is described as a thriller “blending visceral action with sharp, unexpected humor.”
Of course, Thatcher has become somewhat of a genre favorite after appearing in numerous horror films over the past few years. She first came to fame for her role in the Showtime series “Yellowjackets,” which is currently in production for its final season.
Thatcher has also starred in horror films such as “The Boogeyman,” “Heretic,” “MaXXXine” and “Companion,” which earned her rave reviews.
Her next major film in the movie “Her Private Hell” directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, which is another thriller/horror hybrid, which is set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May before a wider release sometime in later 2026.
