Writers Mark Swift and Damian Shannon were long influenced by iconic horror director Sam Raimi even as they were penning scripts for horror films such as the “Friday the 13th” remake and “Freddy vs. Jason” but the chance to actually work with him was a dream come true.
So when the pair heard that Raimi was trying to find a script to direct for an “elevated thriller-horror,” Swift and Shannon dug into their archives and found a concept involving a character named Linda Liddle and before long they transformed that into a full-length script.
Raimi loved the idea because while the concept for the film wasn’t totally new, the originality baked into the script really set this film apart from all others.
Raimi signed onto direct with Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien attached to star.
The story centers around a brow-beaten corporate employee named Linda, who gets passed over for a promotion she was due, by her new boss Bradley.
She’s given an opportunity to wow him during a company trip to Bangkok but a plane crash ends up dumping them on a deserted island where Linda shows off her survival skills much to Bradley’s chagrin…
