Academy Award nominee Diane Lane is the latest addition to “The Exorcist” reboot from writer and director Mike Flanagan…

The cast for Mike Flanagan’s upcoming take on “The Exorcist” continues to grow.

On Tuesday, Academy Award nominee Diane Lane was officially added to the cast where she’ll join Scarlett Johansson, who was previously announced for a lead role in the film that’s set for release on March 12, 2027.

Flanagan is writing and directing the film based on an original idea set in “The Exorcist” universe but the movie has no attachment whatsoever to the 2023 movie “The Exorcist: Believer.” Production is expected to start later this year with filming taking place in New York City.

Of course, Lane is a veteran actress with dozens of credits in film and TV including her role in the 2003 erotic thriller “Unfaithful” that earned her an Academy Award nomination. She’s also appeared in film such as “Under the Tuscan Sun,” “A Walk on the Moon,” “Let Him Go,” “The Outsiders,” “Rumble Fish,” “The Cotton Club” and “Perfect Storm.”

On television, Lane has appeared in series such as “FEUD: Capote vs. The Swans,” which earned her an Emmy nomination as well as the Netflix series “House of Cards.”

Details on Lane’s role remain a mystery as does the premise for Flanagan’s film but he’s previously commented about his love for the original “Exorcist” movie and he plans to honor that legacy by creating a terrifying new vision with his version of the film.

Additional casting is expected to be announced in the coming weeks with production expected to start soon with the film slated for release in early 2027.
