Eli Roth offers an update on “Thanksgiving 2,” the sequel to his surprise slasher film that’s been in the works since 2023…

John Carver will return for “Thanksgiving 2” but it just might take some time for the movie to actually get made.
The slasher film first released in 2023 starring Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Gina Gershon and numerous others earned over $46 million at the box office on a $15 million budget so it didn’t take long for writer and director Eli Roth to begin plans on a sequel.
Unfortunately, timing just hasn’t worked out to actually put the film into production, especially with Rae on tour for her music and Manheim just recently signing onto star in a live action version of the film “Tangled.” But Roth knows both want to return along with everybody else and now it’s just a matter of figuring out when the cast and get together again to film the sequel.
“Everybody wants to do it,” Roth told Variety. “I’m gonna have it locked and loaded, and we’ll find a time when we’re all available. We’ll just go back for a few weeks and have fun.”
The first film centered around a tragic Black Friday shopping stampede that left several people dead and one year later, a killer wearing John Carver mask and Pilgrim hat starts cutting through all of the people who were involved with the horrific incident.
Originally, Roth made a fake trailer for “Thanksgiving” as part of Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s double-feature “Grindhouse” with “Planet Terror” and “Death Proof.” The trailer was so popular that over the years more and more fans asked Roth if he would ever actually make the movie and he eventually relented with “Thanksgiving” released in 2023.
Now Roth is teasing plans for his sequel but he’s got to wait until he can actually get the gang back together again to film the movie.
Stay tuned for more information on “Thanksgiving 2” as it becomes available!
