Osgood Perkins was just finished with filming on his serial killer, mind trip odyssey known as “Longlegs” but his next film “The Monkey” was effectively put on hold because of the writer’s strike happening in Hollywood.
Undeterred by this minor inconvenience, Perkins decided he was going to keep working anyways so he cobbled together an idea for a new film and hired a writer not affiliated with the Writer’s Guild of America to pen the script.
He teamed with Tatiana Maslany for the lead role after she was already expected to star in his next film.
Perkins found a secluded cabin in the middle of nowhere Canada and with a small cast and an ambitious plan, he got to shooting his latest film.
Set against this backdrop of a secluded hideaway, a woman named Liz heads off to a weekend in the woods with her boyfriend Malcolm at his family’s home but after she arrives and meets his creepy cousin, his barely English speaking date and the weird, creepy incidents around the house start to add up, she’s convinced something is really off with this trip and her relationship …
