The first look at “The Bride” has arrived with a new vision for the classic “Frankenstein” story, this time crafted by Maggie Gyllenhaal…
The motherfucking Bride!
That teaser alone in the first trailer for the new film “The Bride” should tell you this isn’t the same old story when it comes to the twisted tale of “The Bride of Frankenstein.”
Crafted by director Maggie Gyllenhaal, the new film “The Bride” takes the classic story and turns it upside down before unleashing a new nightmarish vision featuring Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley as a murdered girl brought back to life to serve as a mate for Frankenstein’s monster, played by Oscar winner Christian Bale.
Here’s the full synopsis for “The Bride,” which drops in theaters on March 6, 2026:
“A lonely Frankenstein (Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!”
The film also stars Peter Sarsgaard, with Bening, Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal, and Oscar winner Penélope Cruz. Gyllenhaal directs from her own screenplay and produces alongside Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman Keren.
The ambitious new take looks nothing like the original “Frankenstein” and “Bride of Frankenstein” movies that existed in the old Universal monsters stories.
