Rob Zombie penned a tribute to musician Terry Reid following his passing after he contributed multiple songs to some of the director’s biggest movies…
Rob Zombie is obviously a famed musician but when it comes to his films, he loves to incorporate a wide variety of songs but one artist really captured his imagination for the movies “The Devil’s Rejects” and “3 From Hell.”
Terry Reid — who famously turned down the singing gig with Led Zeppelin and instead told Jimmy Page that he should consider Robert Plant instead — allowed five of his songs to be featured in Zombie’s films and sadly he died this week at the age of 75. Following news of his passing, Zombie paid tribute to the veteran musician on social media.
“So sad to hear about the passing of the great Terry Reid,” Zombie wrote. “Terry’s music is beyond amazing. Terry was kind enough to let me feature 5 of his songs in two of my film ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ and ‘3 From Hell.’ All five were from the incredible Seed Of Memory album. Rock on Terry.”
Perhaps the most famous scene featuring Reid’s music comes from Zombie’s critically acclaimed feature “The Devil’s Rejects” with Sheriff Wydell tracks down the Firefly family and teams up with a pair of vicious bounty hunters to take them into custody, all set to the sounds of the track “To Be Treated Rite.”

While he never charted any major hits during his career, Reid was one of the most well respected and well liked artists, especially by musicians who were influenced by his incredible vocals and lyrics. In addition to turning down the Led Zeppelin gig, Reid also famously passed on becoming the singer for Deep Purple after guitarist Richie Blackmore offered him that job as well.
Reid’s music has also appeared in films such as “Wonderland” and “Days of Thunder” but the iconic appearances in two of Zombie’s movies will live on with horror fans forever.
