The Philippou brothers update their plans for the upcoming “Talk to Me” sequel and additional projects that may delay that film coming out…
It didn’t take long for A24 to order a sequel to “Talk To Me” — the breakout horror hit from siblings Danny and Michael Philippou — but fans might have to wait a little bit longer before seeing that movie.
The brothers are currently promoting their next film “Bring Her Back,” which has been receiving rave reviews so far ahead of the wide release on May 30, but they haven’t forgotten about their plans for the cleverly named “Talk 2 Me.”
“We have two versions of the script for ‘Talk to Me 2’ that are focusing on two different sets of characters that are in two different places,” the Philippou brothers told Bloody Disgusting “I’m equally excited about both. There’s one scene in one of them that I think will be one of the best things I ever shoot.”
Now it’s unclear if the two versions are potentially going to come together into one script or if the brothers are deciding on which one they actually want to shoot.
While there’s no word on when production might actually commence, the Philippou’s already have an idea about some of the scenes they plan on shooting for “Talk 2 Me.”
“I think it’s so horrific,” the Phillippou brothers said. “I’m like this is insane and I’ve already started talking to people. I’m like, how can we pull this off practically? So those conversations are happening, but it’s about stepping away from the world and then coming back into it super reinvigorated. So that’s why we didn’t do that next.”
As much as fans might be clamoring for the “Talk to Me” sequel, the Australian duo aren’t rushing that project because they are currently working hard on a new documentary about professional wrestling death matches and then there’s another horror script in the works that may end up happening before the sequel to their debut film.
“I’m writing another horror movie at the moment, which I adore so much,” the brothers added. “And it feels like it’s huge. So there’s that. And then I think would be ‘Talk to Me 2.'”
Assuming “Bring Her Back” does well at the box office, it’s safe to say the Philippou brothers can effectively pick and choose whatever they want to do next but there are definitely still plans to return to the world of “Talk to Me.”
